Coral Reef Info

The Coral reef what a wonderful place
The Coral Reef, where all the fishies plaaaaay

Over Fishing
Convict tangs help eat the algae so that photosynthesis will be able to get through, But what happens when people over fish the convict fish and they cannot eat the algae making it hard for the coral to go under photosynthesis because the algae, It also depleats the food source.

Tourism

When the toursits are scuba diving they are breaking the coral. Therefore the coral does not grow back. And the coral  will never grow back

Logging run off

when people cut the trees, and the mud and sedaments from the tree are being washed off by the rain it runs off into the rivers or lakes , or any type of water way available. These water ways lead into the ocean and into the corals which block off photosynthesis from occuring and the corals get bleached

Burning Of Fossil Fuels
a fossil fuel is a hydro carbon it seperates and the carbon goies up into the air and cnd combines with oxygen the CO2 makes acid rain which reduces th acidity of the ocean it makes the ocean more acidic and kills the coral

Coral reefs benefit a healthy world by providing:

Habitat: Home to more than 1 million diverse aquatic species, including thousands of fish species

Income: Billions of dollars and millions of jobs in more than 100 countries around the world

Food: For commercial fishing enterprises and for people living near coral reefs, especially on small islands

Protection: A natural barrier protecting coastal cities, communities, and beaches

Medicine: Potential treatments for many of the world’s most prevalent and dangerous illnesses and diseases

Bioluminescence and Angler Fish Stuff

Ah look the Abyss. The deepes part of the ocean, where only the smart and strong oragisims can survive with the hard pressures and darkness

Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism.

The angler gets its name from the elongated dorsal spine that supports a light-producing organ known as a photophore. Through a chemical process known as bioluminescence, this photophore can produce a blue-green light similar to that of a firefly on land. The fish uses this appendage like a fishing lure, waving it back and forth to attract its prey.

Its skin is specially adapted to reflect blue light. Since nearly all light emitted from bioluminescent creatures is blue, the anglerfish can be nearly invisible to other deep sea animals. The sharp teeth of the angler are angled inwards, which helps to prevent the prey from escaping. The anglerfish can extend both its jaw and its stomach to an incredible size, allowing it to swallow prey twice the size of its entire body. Since food can be scarce in the deep sea, this special adaptation allows it to stock up on food during times of plenty.
